Greetings, and good evening everyone. Welcome to the tattered screen, where movies are always the main attraction. Here I will be offering my views on movies both new and old. First of all, let me just admit: I have no pretentions of being anything particularly special. What I do have is background as a student journalist, where I wrote on movies as part of my school's monthly magazine, and a deep love of films and cinema as both entertainment and art. I'm just a college freshman trying to break out with their first blog and some ambitions towards being a film reviewer.
I'd like to take a minute ro explain my review system. I'll be examining each movie in detail over the course of each post. I'll be as non-spoiler-giving as I can, but to really offer my opinion, I will need to reveal some details. At the end, I'll offer the film a score out of 5 in 3 categories: story, characters, and presentation.
* Story refers to the skill and sensibility behind the film's plotline; whether the character's actions really make sense and the sequence of events can be followed without too much suspension of disbelief. I'll also use this category to reflect on any morals or Aesops the film offers its audience.
* Character will detail the development and ability of the characters ro connect with the audience. This is a very important category for me- I belive good or bad characterization can make or break a film.
* Presentation, details the visual or audio effects that create the atmosphere of the movie. Let's face it, a movie is a visual and audio art form, so the overall appearance of the film is valuable.
My final score for the movie will be an amalgam score out of 15 taken from all of these categories. I hope you enjoy the tattered screen!
